I am a newbie with DNS. I have an application that is running on a website
via IIS. I have to type the IP in the browser for it to work. How do I set up dns so that I can type mydomain.com/program and it will go to the internal ip for that app?? Thanks in advance. |

Do you have a DNS Server yet? Does it have a ZONE for the machines you wish to resolve? You must have a zone, and you must have an A record for the address. If there is a conflict between this zone and the EXTERNAL version of the zone (your request for providing the internal address as if this would be difficult implies this may be your real problem) then you can either setup "Shadow DNS" for the ENTIRE zone, or you can create a CHILD ZONE strictly for the name in question. The latter is done by having an actual zone for server.domain.com, and making a "blank" or name "same as parewnt" A record. -- Herb Martin, MCSE, MVP http://www.LearnQuick.Com (phone on web site) If you use LinkedIn then tell me where you know me from when linking: http://www.linkedin.com/in/herbmartin |
