I need to setup an Intranet Name in DNS that points to an internal web
server. Setting this up can be done with a host A record that points to the web server IP or a CNAME entry that points to the host name of the web server. What is the pros and cons of doing each of these? I would like to use the recommended method, but I am having trouble finding a solid answer. Thanks. |

The original purpose of a CNAME was to point to an A record hosted on a
different nameserver, one which you do not control. Since you have control over your domain and DNS, just use A record should be good enough.
