I want to enter two different wpad entry to each DNS server. Can it possible? Will it change after first DNS replication? Thanks |

Not if it is the same zone. > Will it change after first DNS replication? Yes, of course. A DNS zone is replicated to all DNS servers which hold that zone. (The special case of Shadow DNS is actually TWO zones that happen to have the same name but never replicate.) There is a TRICK that might work for you if you must. Create a SEPARATE DELEGATED zone for the WPAD entry itself, e.g., wpad.domain.com. then build the wpad records WITHOUT a host specific name (This will definetly work for A records): DNS A lookup on QNAME=wpad.domain.com. DNS SRV lookup on QNAME=wpad.domain.com. DNS TXT lookup on QNAME=wpad.domain.com.If you build these as PRIMARY zones on EACH DNS server they will never replicate and so will not be shared. -- Herb Martin, MCSE, MVP http://www.LearnQuick.Com (phone on web site) If you use LinkedIn then tell me where you know me from when linking: http://www.linkedin.com/in/herbmartin |
