Par défaut Keep losing records in secondary zone...

Hi,

I keep losing a records on certain servers in a secondary zone. What I have
to do to make it work again is to reload the zone from the master. However,
why are only two or three servers losing their a records and not any other
server? I checked the settings on the servers and they are set to
automatically update it's dns. The primary zone that they belong to, the a
record if fine and never dissapears.

Thanks,

Verify that you are getting good zone transfers, and there isn't a
possibility that the Secondary is connecting from an IP that isn't in the
allow zone transfers list.

Secondary zones are read only copies, so individual records cannot be
deleted from a secondary zone, they have to be deleted from the Primary
zone.

Thanks for the reply. Yes it looks like the zone transfers are good when they
are first reloaded from the master. The allow zone transfers list also looks
correct.

So if the secondary zone is read only copy your saying that the problem
probably traces back to the primary zone? In that case what is causing the
deleting of an a record in a primary zone of a server with a static ip and
properties set to dynamically update?

Thanks

IT has to be going back to the Primary, you cannot delete records from
secondary zones.

In that case what

Check to make sure the DHCP Client service is running, and that scavenging,
if enabled is not set to a too low threshold.
