When you sieze the domain controller, is this run on the workign domain controller. Will this sieze the working one or the one tha has been turned off and no longer working. Thanks. Hi,
It will seize the role that you give it in command line (for example seize rid master- which you know it is on the dead domain controller), to the domain controller that you also give it in the command line (connect to server s_name where s_name is the name of the domain controller that you want to assign the FSMO role to). Seizing has to be done on a running machine that should take over the roles. BUT only if you will NEVER bring back the old machine to the domain.
