Par défaut Event 4515 - Duplicate zones, both appear valid

Hi,

I'm kind of at a loss... hoping someone can me out or point me in the
right direction.

The ouline:
My company runs an Active Directory Forest with 3 child domains.
All built (not upgraded) on Windows Server 2003 running 2003 DNS. All lookup
zones are AD integrated.

All of our child domains except one have their DNS zone replication scopes
set to "To all DNS servers in the Active Directory Forest xxxx.xxx" so it
stores the data in the ForestDNSZones partition.
The problematic child domain it concerns here has it's DNS Zone Replication
Scope set to "To all domain controllers in the Active Directory domain
xxxx.xxx" so it stores it's data under the DomainNC, this goes for all DNS
servers in that domain.

Now this has to change to ForestDNSZones obviously to fall in line with the
rest of the forest (and clear the 4515 events in the logs).
Both partitions appear to contain valid data no "CNF..." or "In Progress..."
entries.

How do I change the DNS Zone Replication Scope settings for this child
domain without loosing data?'
Could it be as simple as just changing the setting? If I do do I change it
for every zone on every DNS server in that domain, or just one?
Will it overwrite the current partition under ForestDNSZones or add to it?
Or will clients reregister their RR in this zone while scavenging slowly
removes the entries under the DomainNC?

I'm just trying to get my head around how to best solve this since both
appear to contain valid data and in my opinion this is logical since part of
the DNS servers in the Forest store their data in the ForestDNSZones
partition and the DNS servers in the troublesome domain store their data in
the DomainNC partition...

Any suggestions are highly appreciated.
Many thanks.

The best way to move zones between replication partitions is to change one
DNS server to a Standard Primary, force a replication cycle, then wait until
the zone has been removed from all other DCs, by replication or manually
deleting them, go back to the one you changed to a standard primary, change
it to ADI, and set the replication scope before clicking the Apply button.
