You don't really need one, except for certain monitoring and reporting
functions where you want to translate the log file entries into readable host names. But if you want to do it, - Create a new zone in the Reverse Lookup Zones section - Enter your IP subnet. You will see a reverse version being created below. That's it, Anthony, http://www.airdesk.com "create_share" <createshare@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:B0650BE5-2274-4F9E-B11B-36BB7695131E@microsoft.com... >I have one Windows 2003 Server which is my DC, DNS and DHCP Server. Since is mostly used on Servers, it could take some time to use a service
when Reverse Zones is not present or malfunctioning, so you should create and use reverse zones. Here's some valuable information: http://www.ieng.net/univercd/cc/td/d...gdns.htm#80439 "create_share" wrote: > I have one Windows 2003 Server which is my DC, DNS and DHCP Server. AD does not need Reverse lookup zone to function properly, having reverse
lookup zone however is recommended and every experienced Network Administrator will create a reverse lookup zone to be able to troubleshoot day to day issues as well as to provide functionality for certain software the great trouble shooting tool wont work (NSlookup) if the reverse lookup zone is missing Configure a DNS Reverse Lookup Zone http://207.46.196.114/windowsserver2....mspx?mfr=true http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;300202 -- Oz Ozugurlu Systems Engineer MCSE 2003| M+| S+ MCDST | Security+|Project+ oz@SMTp25.org http://smtp25.blogspot.com (Blog) "create_share" <createshare@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:B0650BE5-2274-4F9E-B11B-36BB7695131E@microsoft.com... >I have one Windows 2003 Server which is my DC, DNS and DHCP Server.
