I am upgrading a domain from Windows 2000 to Windows 2003. There are
currently 2 windows 2000 domain controllers, and only one is running DNS. After I run adprep /forestprep and /domainprep I am going to bring up a new 2003 domain controller. My question is: should I configure this new 2003 domain controller's TCP/IP settings with the existing DNS server for name resolution, and then install Active Directory, and then install DNS on this server afterwards? Or should I install DNS on this server and configure it to use itself for DNS in the TCP/IP Settings and then install Active Directory last? Or should I install DNS during the Active Directory installation process, if this is the case, what should I have the server configured to use for DNS before I run dcpromo? |

DNS will be installed in Active Directory installation process. No worry -
maybe you will need to wait afterwards for domain to be created in DNS. Even if you install DNS later it will be automaticaly configured for your "local domain".
