Environment: Brand new installation on 2 new servers, one server
hosting Exchange 2007. Initial installation of w2k3 was poorly done. Having major issues with DNS, so I decided that it might just be easier to recreate the zone. However, I don't quite fully understand its interaction with AD, so I thought I'd ask before recreating the zone. Is it safe to just stop DNS on both DCs, delete the zone on the PDC, recreate it, and start DNS back up on both DCs? Any negative effect on AD or Exchange 2007? Also, the consultants that initially set this up didn't follow my specs and gave this a domain name different than what I specified. I see that there are tools available to rename a domain, but I'm curious if it's safe considering that I already have Exchange running. Basically, I'm just worried about breaking everything if I do any of this. Sorry if this is simple stuff to everyone, but I'm coming from the *nix world and am just not fully comfortable with all the ins and out of AD yet. |
