Windows 2000 Server Small Business Edition (DNS is AD Integrated and only
secure updates are allowed): Moved everything from one physical location to the next, reinstalled OS on server (SBE 2000), joined clients to domain. Clients show up in ADUC within the Computers container, but not within the forward lookup zone in DNS. The only host record to show up is of the DC itself...Any ideas? My gratitude for your time! |

Clients MUST ONLY use the SBS as their DNS address in ip properties. DO NOT use an ISP's or some other DNS in their ip properties. Other problems will result if you do. 2. The domain MUST not be a single label name. A name format of "domain.com" or "domain.shawn" is acceptable. A name of "DOMAIN" is not. 3. Updates must be allowed on the zone, whether secured or not. If secure updates is set, machine must be joined to the domain. -- Regards, Ace This posting is provided "AS-IS" with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights. The Primary DNS Suffix must match the zone name they are attempting to register into on the DNS server in the client's ip properties. By default a joined machine will have this set already and there will be nothing you need to change. Ace |
