we have a small business server 2003 , we update websites via the web and
ftp. during the day we will lose access to the websites we are working on. We stop and start the dns and sometimes clear the cache and this seems to fix the problem for awhile, we can make a few web edits or ftp uploads and we have to do it all over again. also, we cant access some of our sites with a www. in front of the url only the http:// -- Deborah Owner ACE Computer Guy |

This should not (ever) be necessary. Are you using a forwarder by any chance? Forwarding to a DNS server that is also forwarding back to you? What are the exact symptoms when you feel you need to do this? What problem are you solving? |

exactly what happens is.... I edit a zencart or phpwebsite by uploading and
editing directly on the internet, or I am editing a css or php file in dreamweaver and upload the changes via ftp. I can do maybe from 3-10 changes ie: upload a file, an image, an item in a database via the web admin of zencart... and then it is like my internet does not work anymore, but only on the pages I am actively editing. I can access any other page on the internet. You know how you get the "this page cannot be displayed" message? Also, I cannot access any of our web pages using the www prefix from work, but I can fine at home. Our web pages are hosted off site using a hosting company, so they are not on the affected server. -- Deborah Owner ACE Computer Guy "Herb Martin" wrote: > > "Deborah" <Deborah@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:4545D012-683F-4EF4-B283-5A2C0B759DAC@microsoft.com... > > we have a small business server 2003 , we update websites via the web and > > ftp. during the day we will lose access to the websites we are working on. > > We > > stop and start the dns and sometimes clear the cache and this seems to fix > > the problem for awhile, we can make a few web edits or ftp uploads and we > > have to do it all over again. also, we cant access some of our sites with > > a > > www. in front of the url only the http:// > > Something wrong.
