I'm in a very similar situation. Two W2K member servers with DNS and
different W2K DCs. I have not DCPromo'd any W2K3 servers yet (I've read all the Forest and Domain Prep Docs). Should install DNS on one my W2K DCs and then switch it to integrated? Will this make the W2K3 DCPROMO process go better? I want to end up only having integrated DNS on the W2K3 servers. Thanks! "Kevin D. If you don't have DNS running on the Win2k DC, create a zone as a secondary from the master on the member. Then change the zone on the DC first to a primary, then to AD Integrated. Then change the members to Secondary from the DC master. Then when you DCPromo the Win2k3 they will get the zone replicated to them. Following the above plan will preserve the records in the current zone. You can't change the zone straight from Secondary to ADI, you have to make it a Primary first. -- Best regards, Kevin D.
