Par défaut DNS zones need to be reloaded in order to work

I have noticed twice in the last week that dns has stopped working on all
of our non-active directory integrated forward lookup zones.

When I look at the dns server interface it tells me the zones need to be
reloaded. I right click on the zones and tell them to reload and dns queries
work again.

What is causing these zones to go down? How do I find out?

Also please note that the server OS is Windows 2003 R2 and it is the PDC
for our domain.

Are these Primary zones or Secondary zones?

If they are secondary zones, make sure the primary zones are properly
configured to allow zone transfers to the secondary zones.
If there is a possibility that the primary could see more than one IP
address on the secondary that the primary is configured to allow zone
transfers to all the secondary's IP addresses.
