Par défaut how to setup DNS on multiple DC's ?

I have 3 dc's ( windows 2003 at the same site). I configure the same
forwarder on all of them. I set up dns on all of them to point to themselves
and to the other DNS servers. Everything worksfine internally. One of the
DC's is a remote access server (VPN). Sometimes, VPN users can not ping the
other 2 servers, and sometimes they can.
I have 2 questions:
Is my setup right for the DNS?
and do you think VPN users not pinging other servers is the result of DNS
issues?
They can ping the remote access server and comes back as the ip address of
the VPN connection not the actual ip address of the server itself. ( the
remote access server is 10.0.1.7(DC3) and the ip address for VPN connection
10.0.1.130, and when they ping DC3 it comes back as 10.0.1.130 and not
10.0.1.7)
Thnaks for any reply.

Use the Hosts file or WINS for NetBIOS name resolution.
