I have a small domain that uses a non-Microsoft DNS. I recently installed 3
Windows 2003 servers with Active Directory that point to this other DNS server (it supports SRV records). It is running fine, but I would now like to add and/or move the DNS service to one or more of the Win2K+3 servers. Is there a way to configure active directory and DNS on the 2003 servers after it is already pointing to the non-MSFT DNS server? Cheers! |

Create a secondary zone of the existing zone on the non-Windows DNS server. Then simply make it AD integrated and ALL your DCs (that have DNS installed on them) will automatically have a copy without any further involvement, almost like magic. You can then eliminate the non-Windows server or use it as a secondary zone. Don't forget to change the IP configs so they use only themselves as the first entry, and choose on of the others in their own site as the second entry. -- Ace Innovative IT Concepts, Inc (IITCI) Willow Grove, PA This posting is provided "AS-IS" with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights.
