I am running dns server on windows 2003 server in the internal network. All
the workstations are using this server for name resolution. The dns server is all configured with forwarder which point to an internet authoritative server for external or internet name resolution. The problem I am experiencing is that I am dealing with a number of sites whose reverse resolution names are not equal to that of specified for forward resolution. Is there a standard method to resolve this problem? If not, is there a place to tell the dns server to remember the names when performing forward resolution and use them first when doing reverse resolution? Thanks in advance |

Some do not have them and there is no way around that. If it is a spam filter, you'll just have to make adjustments or compromises to receive mail, but they may still be filtered based on RBLS or SURBLS. As for caching reverse entries, no. Only in forward entries, such as with a host file, but I wouldn't do it that way. Some mail filters will allow to increase the cache length ignoring the original time stamp on the record. Mail filters will also allow you to create an IP trust list, as well as domain trust lists. For reverse, it;s dynamic, unless you write an app to do it. I hope I understood your question.
