Par défaut DNS record "disappeared" for one specific host. What can cause this ?

DNS-ADI, WIn2003 SP1.

Users complain they can't get to a http://certainserver.mydomain.org.

I go to the DNS server and I no longer see a host record for the
certainserver.mydomain.org on my "mydomain.org" zone. The PTR record
associated with it remains though.

A couple of days ago people were able to access 'certainserver.mydomain.org'
just fine.

Any ideas on what could have caused this to "get deleted" or disappear from
the DNS server ? I don't see any obvious errors on the DNS server
eventviewer logs.

Please advise on whether you have seen such a thing before and how can I
find out what happened. I am puzzled.

Hi
If you run ipconfig /registerdns on that server does the record shows in the
DNS or fails to register?
If it fails check for event logs errors so you can start from there.
Also have a look at the Zone properties and make sure that accepts dynamic
updates.
Is the server pointing to the correct dns server?
Is that server member of the domain? Is the server ipaddress dynamic or
static, if dynamic is your dhcp server authorized.
When only PTR records remains and the Forward zone doesn't show the name of
the server, generally means that the dnssuffix for that server isn't equal
to the zone name, or that server isn't member of that domain.

Any away there 're many reasons for this to happen maybe if you can give
more configuration details we can you out better. For instance place
here the reults for ipconfig /all

I hope that the information above s you
Good Luck

Thanks.
I confirmed the DNS settings are correct. The suffix information is also
correct.

From the respective machine, I did 'ipconfig /registerdns' and I see the
record appearing OK on the DNS server.
Well, I can't reproduce the problem then.
