Hello, can i configure my NS1 & NS2 in such a way that if i create example.com zone on NS1, it will replicate to NS2 automatically? so far i found that i need to add zones on both servers i.e. NS1 & NS2 in order to replicate records/updates automatically from NS1 to NS2. I will appreciate any ! Best Regards, David |

No, because until a DNS server has a zone it has no interest in replicating that zone. > so far i found that i need to add zones on both servers i.e. NS1 & NS2 in > order to replicate records/updates automatically from NS1 to NS2. That is the normal and expected behavior. You could use DNSCMD.exe to write a procedure which lists on (or each) server and creates any new domains it finds on the other server.... It would not be difficult but unless you are going to do this dozens of times it probably isn't worth the trouble (e.g., not worth it for 2-10 new zones probably.) -- Herb Martin, MCSE, MVP Accelerated MCSE http://www.LearnQuick.Com [phone number on web site] > I will appreciate any ! > > Best Regards, > > David > |

If the DNS servers are on Domain Controllers, you can store the zone in Active Directory. -- Best regards, Kevin D.
