Are you really looking for www.mydomain.com, or is this something you
substituted for the actual host you are trying to query? To isolate a problem resolving a host record, I usually do 3 things first: 1) Determine the authoritative nameserver(s) for the host's domain. 2) Check for the host record on the authoritative server. 3) Check for the host record on my resolving nameserver. From the output below, it looks like the authoritative server listed is ns2.mydomain.com and ns1.mydomain.com. To query these servers using nslookup, do this: Type nslookup at a command prompt and hit <enter>. You will get a ">" prompt. Type server ns1.mydomain.com <enter> (this changes the server you will query) Type www.mydomain.com <enter> Type server ns2.mydomain.com <enter> (this changes the server you will query again) Type www.mydomain.com <enter> Type server <the IP address or name of your default dns server> <enter> (now you will change the server to query back to your default) Type www.mydomain.com <enter> Depending on the results, you might also want to try a ping to ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com. There could be a network problem reaching these authoritative servers. I hope this s. -- Greg Lindsay [MSFT] Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
