What you should check though is what namespaces are already there. Your writing that you have: abc.abc.com which is a subdomain of abc.com and can only exist if the domain abc.com is there. So you would be trying to create a new namespace for a domain which already exists. |

i want to know is ..now is for example xxx.abc.abc.com is a domain controller in windows 2003 environment and xxx.abc.com is in domain in linux environment and hosting linux email . so if i later change email server to exchange environment , did i need to creat new DNS for exchange or using exsiting DNS xxx.abc.abc.com to creat new zone for xxx.abc.com? thanks "Christian Grams" <ChristianGrams@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:07927D55-CD6C-4FB5-91BF-B333E87D963A@microsoft.com... > > > "acd" wrote: > >> Hi everyone..i'm newbie for server support. >> i want to know..my company has one DNS and AD which say abc.abc.com. >> and now i need to build up new AD FOR exchange server with abc.com. >> so i want to can i use exisitng DNS server abc.abc.com for new exchange >> instead for creat new DNS server for exchange? >> > > A DNS Server can have more than one namespace so this is not the problem. > What you should check though is what namespaces are already there. There is no need for a new namespace - use the old one for exchange.
