One of our domain name expired recently and reactivated the following
day. Is it true that it will take 48 hours for it to propagate before the website can be access again ? The primary DNS is hosted internally. I have no porblem to ping the website but not by name. My question is : do I require to flush the dns server for it refresh ? Any advise would be greatly appreciate. |

Are you using a Public DNS server or a ISP DNS Server? if you internally can't ping the website by name you should check if it's poing to the correct IPAddress, or you can flush it. -- I hope that the information above s you Good Luck Jorge Silva MCSA Systems Administrator <sg_s123@yahoo.com.sg> wrote in message news:1153642101.567454.60830@m73g2000cwd.googlegro ups.com... > One of our domain name expired recently and reactivated the following > day. It could take up to 48 hours depending on when a server last refreshed the NS records for your domain. > > The primary DNS is hosted internally. You don't have to do anything, it may not take that long, it all depends on the TTL of your NS records and what servers still have them in cache. It is possible that for some people to have never noticed that domain name expired. If the DNS server they use had your NS records in cache. -- Best regards, Kevin D. Usual time is 24 to 48 hours. We usually make changes on a Friday afternoon so the changes are propogated by Monday morning. btw - can you tell us what the domain name is so we can see if it is working from our end for you? -- Ace Innovative IT Concepts, Inc Willow Grove, PA This posting is provided "AS-IS" with no warranties or guarantees and confers no rights. Hi,
Yes, internally (local area network) we can access the corporate website wither by IP address or URL. Externally we are not able to access either IP or url. when did a tracert and it show firewall not responding. I am confused here because before the domain name expired, we have no problem accessing from externally, now that it had expired and reactivated, shouldn't it back to normal as it is ? do we have to reconfigure firewall or dns server ?? Thanks. Jorge Silva wrote: > Hi > > > One of our domain name expired recently and reactivated the following > > day. Does your insternal DNS server host the external zone name, or just the internal AD name, or both? 3. Can you provide us the domain name please to better and more accurately assist? Thank you, Ace |
