I have 2 external DNS server that host the myname.com zone.
I also have internal AD integrated DNS servers that host the myname.com zone. The question was brought up about why can't you just put http://myname.com in a browser when user's are using the internal DNS servers? It works from the outside DNS servers. I don't have an issue with the external DNS servers. They have one A record for (same as parent folder) and it points to the address that I want. I could see on the internal DNS servers that there were A records for (same as parent folder) for the servers that were hosting the internal DNS zones. I deleted them but they have reappeared. Is there a way to control this so that the internal records are not being automatically created and so that I can control where the (same as parent folder) A record for the zone points to? Thanks. Do not modify the behavior of DCs registering this record unless the DC is multi-homed, and then you must manually create the record for the DCs internal interface that has file sharing enabled. This record is required for the Group Policies in the \\myname.com\SYSVOL DFS share and Logon scripts in the \\myname.com\NETLOGON DFS share. -- Best regards, Kevin D.
