Par défaut Update dynamic DNS with ISA Server's public DHCP Address?

I am Stumped!

How to register a unique name in an internal Dynamic DNS; the outside
DHCP address of a multihomed server?

I have an ISA Server 2006, it has a DHCP address from my ISP and a
fixed internal NAT address on the inside. The PDC is inside the NAT
and running WINS, DHCP and Dynamic DNS.

The ISA Server domain named FIREWALL has this config
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nic-1 fixed IP 192.168.1.1 FIREWALL.home.domain.com on internal DNS
and WINS
Nic-2 DHCP IP x.y.z.a Ureliable????.Mammoth-ISP.com set to DHCP
from my ISP
(I want a Dynaic DNS name like DIRTY.home.domain.com for Nic-2)

How do i keep the proper config for the internal side so when i ping
FIREWALL i get 192.168.1.1 but i can also ping DIRTY and get (x.y.z.a)
the current outside DHCP address from my ISP?

How can a multihomed external ISP created DHCP Address be uniquely
registered on an internal DNS Server?

Thanks if anyone can , Please.

Just don't do it.
Manually add it,...it only needs to be done once.

AO No, the ISP side is DHCP, when my IP address changes it has to be
reflected inside,
"Just don't do it.'' is not the solution.
Anyone else have a clue?????

ISA would not like this, so you would have to make a rule in ISA to allow
it.
For the machine to dynamically register dirty.home.domain.com its NetBIOS
name will have to be dirty.
On the External NIC manually configure the Internal DNS server's address as
the DNS server and check the register this connection's addresses in DNS
box. Disable dynamic DNS on the internal NIC and manually create your record
named firewall with the internal IP.

Thanks Kevin for the thought.

but I know this and it would NOT be a secure soluiton. also it
doesn't solve the requirements.

perhaps a simpler way of expressing it would be a "dyndns behaving
client" that registers into a Microsoft DNS server.

I don't recall seeing anything about secure in your original post, you
wanted to know if it could be done and it can. You'll have to take it from
there.

If you knew what you were doing and how DNS works you would know what you
are wanting to do shouldn't even be done.. I usually don't ever tell people
they don't know what they are doing to be polite, but when they call me
jackass,..that changes things.
The solution is still "don't do it". Only the Internal IP# & Internal AD
Name is supposed to ever be registered with your AD/DNS,...the External IP#
is never supposed to be registered because it isn't part of the AD System.

Now if you are talking about some Public Internal Name registration that you
might have,...and have to have it work with a Dynamically Assigned IP# then
then you should already know (if you weren't being a jackass) that you have
to have a third party company like maybe (http://www.dyndns.com/) handle it
because this is not something that either you or your ISP can deal with on
your own.

I didn't think you would be such an extreme jackass as to reply, but
you did.

First of all you have no idea what you are talking about, and it pissed
me off that you just came along and killed my thread. Second it's a
joke to be told i don't know what i'm doing by a tech weenie from an
NBC affliate in Decatur (ROFL), IL. You are so junior its sad.

You have affirmed your jackass status and in the future just ignore my
threads and i'll do the same for yours.

Agar,

Read before you speak. Phillip is one of the more knowledgeable posters
here. And in your case he is right. You should never register an external
domain name in your internal AD DNS, that's what the forwarder is for.
Register you external domain with an org like dyndns and be done with it.

Thank you Asher!
Looks like he turned into a "troll" rather quickly, at least in the
practicle sense.

a troll is someone who looks for a fight. i merely stated that you are
wrong and a jackass for trying to kill my thread, they you attack me
with insults and stupid suggestions that only parrot what i had said
earlier.

you being a jackass does not make me a troll. And you making over
20,000 posts on company time does not make you a good person either.

both of you didn't even bother to read my posts.

> > Register you external domain with an org like dyndns and be done with it.

i don't want to register anything with dyndns, i think its a security
hole in itself. i have thought more about this and if either of you
are not trolls you might listen. i think a service could be written
that would register an address on any microsoft dns server. the service
could even have domain/username password fields so it could login and
register. this would eliminate the need for exposing ips and address
in open domain servers.

the control panel would have a table of config settings with the
following fields.
nic, dns server address, domain/username, password, run this one
change

just my thoughts, but i am sure that's not where your interests lay.

This is a DNS group, there are other forums where you can carry out your
personal attacks on someone that just voices his oppinion. Please take this
somewhere else.

That's right, you started the personal attacks with this line:

What is the point of not registering a public IP with a public DNS?

Your external interface has nothing to do with the internal AD DNS. You
should never have public names in your internal DNS.

You asked a question, we gave you the technically sound answers. That you
either don't like it or don't understand it is irrelevant.
