Does anyone have any idea how to build a Flask desktop application for windows that basically provides a nice GUI to send/recieve very basic data to/from a serial/com port?

I would look into Adobe AIR. I'm not sure they've got serial/com port communication built in yet, but its going to get you closer than Flash alone can.

I'm also looking into running Flash inside VB. Looks like the easiest solution
so far, although I was hoping for something more simplistic.
