Where There are graphic and Movie Clip in the Flash?
What is the deferences? When to choose one from the other? Could it be simpler if Flash only offer Movie Clip (so people are not confusing to choose)? thanks! |

Main differences are:
Movieclip symbols contain their own timelines. Therefore they can run animations inside them that are independent of the main timeline. Also they are targeted by actionscript to perform script driven events, animations, modifications, etc. Graphic symbols are best used to hold static images like pictures, text, or whatever you can create with the drawing tools. Though you can run an animation in them, it needs the main timeline to be of the same length to see the full animation. Graphic symbols cannot be targeted by actionscript. |

I suspect the Graphic symbol is still there as a legacy of early Flash, when there wasn't much scripting around, and most extended animations were done directly on the Timeline.

Thanks Bro margotdarby,
I Just feel the (new) user will be easier to learn if only given movieClip....symbol... because I can't find the explanation of graphic vs movieClip symbol in the Flash CS3 ... The simplier the software the easier for user to learn... |
