I'm new to fireworks. Can some tell me, if I build a site in fireworks, export
it to dreamweaver as an html doc. is that site editable in dreamweaver? I tried
one, but in dreamweaver it acted like all I had was an image file.

By default, that is what Fireworks does. Best to create your images in
FW and then build the page/site in DW.

Fireworks makes graphics files, and it can do some HTML under certain
circumstances, but it is not a WYSIWYG HTML-writing tool.

If you had an area with some text, then Fireworks won't export that as text
for your HTML doc, it will make an image. When people talk about Fireworks
exporting to HTML, they mean is using slices to mark off areas that will need
to be images, or mouse rollovers, or such in an HTML file. Then, when
you export, you get an HTML file which is a table that re-assembles it all like
a jigsaw puzzle made up of rectangular pieces. (Slices are the transparent
green rectangles or other shapes that end up on the Web layer.)

If you didn't mark off any areas of your Fireworks document with slices, then
when you exported for Dreamweaver, you would see only one big image. Does that
sound like what you did?
