I recently inherited web authoring responsibility for a popular sports club web
site. Years ago I was involved in web authoring, but we didn't have this level of sophisticated software way back then! (it was nearly all done in HTML!) Some of the images on the index page are probably created as png files in Fireworks. When I load the image file into Fireworks I can see that it is a Layer containing individual objects. My query is - how can I change the individual objects within this layer as I want to change the photographs the objects (which are bitmaps) represent? |

It really depends on what it is you want to change in the layer. Can you be a little more specific?

That's exactly what I am trying to do. The png file is a combination of six
different images of gymnasts which span the top of the page in a block. I want to change two of the images to more recent ones. have a look at the index page of www.ladywellgym.com to see what I mean. Thanks for the offer of . I suspect this isn't a difficult procedure but I am just not grasping it from the Fireworks menu. |

Then you can import new images into the existing layers by first selecting the desired layer, then going to File > Import. Browse for the file and when you open it, you can click/drag the mouse to set the desired size for the imported file. One thing worth noting; while it was advantageous for the original designer to use the FW png file in the design, it is not a recommended procedure because FW PNG files are significantly larger in file size. Save the layer PNG file to your assets folder, yes, but then export out a jpeg at suitable compression. -- Jim Babbage - .:Community MX:. & .:Adobe Community Expert:. http://www.communityMX.com/ CommunityMX - Free Resources: http://www.communitymx.com/free.cfm --- .:Adobe Community Expert for Fireworks:. Hi Jim,
It worked a treat, many thanks. This is an amazing source of quick fixes from expert users. I had spent several hours trawling through the Fireworks Menus and a fairly useless Tutorial Book I purchased - to no avail. Thanks again....I know where I shall be coming in future for assistance. Frankie |
