I have deleted what appeared to be the only Fireworks Preferences text file
Userpreferences.txt in the Program Files \Adobe directory (Windows XP) and
reinstalled Fireworks. Problem persists. Would be greatful if you could point
me to the location of this directory. I am running Windows XP. Thanks

The correct prefs file to delete is here:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Adobe\Fireworks
CS3\English

If you run FW in a language other then English then the folder at the
end of the path would of course be different.

Thanks. Had a look in the directory. There are no files at all under English
(this is the language i am using). In any case I deleted the whole Fireworks
directory under my user ID and reinstalled Fireworks. Still crashing. Is this
likely to be a registry problem?
