hey there,
ok. i have a site that is all images. what i want to do is add 'search words' into the page that are invisible somehow but that can be crawled by search engines so that if someone searches for the terms they can find my site. is there a way i can add search keywords in the html of my document so that search engines can find it but the words are invisible when people view it? if so, can someone explain in steps how i might go about doing this? |

And for good reason. Don't build sites that have no content. -- Murray --- ICQ 71997575 Adobe Community Expert (If you *MUST* email me, don't LAUGH when you do so!) ================== http://www.projectseven.com/go - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.dwfaq.com - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources ================== "chalman" <chal7ds@verizon.net> wrote in message news:fq0s7q$j1u$1@forums.macromedia.com... > hey there, > > ok. i have a site that is all images. what i want to do is add 'search > words' > into the page that are invisible > somehow but that can be crawled by search engines so that if someone > searches > for the terms they can > find my site. > > is there a way i can add search keywords in the html of my document so > that > search engines can find it > but the words are invisible when people view it? if so, can someone > explain in > steps how i might go about doing this? > > > |

surely this is possible? i mean, if anything, i should be able to create a
table and put 'white' text in it, so in effect what you would have is the only text on the page but it would be unseen because it would blend into the white background of the browser.. ?? |

This could be seen as search engine spam. Don't build sites for search engines, but for humans. If you want text on the pages, then it would make sense to make it visible to all users, otherwise your human visitors might get confused because they won't see what your pages have to do with the keywords they searched for. Only images on a page without a single piece of text is usually a bad idea. Micha |

Of course that's possible. And you *will* appear on the hit list. But you
will be in the group from 201,000 to 201,050. Who's going to look at that part of the list - most people quit after the first 20. If it were as simple as you wish it were, then every hit list would have their first 5,000 hits as porno sites. -- Murray --- ICQ 71997575 Adobe Community Expert (If you *MUST* email me, don't LAUGH when you do so!) ================== http://www.projectseven.com/go - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.dwfaq.com - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources ================== "chalman" <chal7ds11@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:fq12bu$p1n$1@forums.macromedia.com... > surely this is possible? i mean, if anything, i should be able to create a > table and put 'white' text in it, so in effect what you would have is the > only > text on the page but it would be unseen because it would blend into the > white > background of the browser.. > > ?? > |

well if the text i put in there for the terms relates to my images, then i
don't really see how it would be spam because it would legitmately lead someone to my site to find that information. yes, they may not be able to copy text from the site, but they would be able to read about and see my images (unless they don't have images set to 'on') which would relate to the site. |

What you are asking for is basically the wrong way to go about it. And some
search engines will recognize "White on white" text and dump your site altogether. But to do what you want legitimately, add a long description in English sentences, using your keywords into each of the images Alt tags. Also in the meta description. Use real sentences, not lists of keywords. This is pretty much how search engines determine valid content. Then contact every web site you can that is similar in subject to yours and ask them to put links to your site on their sites. That's the strongest thing you can do. If you're lucky you might work your way up into the to 100,000 from the bottom 200,000 lists. It aint easy. Kinda like getting Mick Jaggers attention at a Rolling Stones Concert when you're sitting in the nose bleed seats.... |

I think you are too optimistic, Micha. I believe it will take more than alt
attribute and meta description content to get that high. -- Murray --- ICQ 71997575 Adobe Community Expert (If you *MUST* email me, don't LAUGH when you do so!) ================== http://www.projectseven.com/go - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.dwfaq.com - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources ================== "Michael Hager" <michael@cmhager.com> wrote in message news:fq1u9v$pe9$1@forums.macromedia.com... > What you are asking for is basically the wrong way to go about it.
