I have recently installed CS3 Web. Previoulsy, I had DW MX 2004. I unistalled
DW 2004 and FW 2004 When I have a page in DW that contains a JPEG and I want to edit that image, I right click (PC) and go to "Edit with --- " I select FW. It reads "unable to launch C;\Program Files\Macromedia\Fireworks 2004\Fireworks.exe Please be sure that this applications exists and that there is enough memory to run it." Well, that has been unistalled and there is no Macromedia folder in Program Files. I go to Edit > Preferences > File Types > Under the file type of PNG and JPEG, it has Fireworks as my primary editor. The filed above it that says "Fireworks" with the browse feature to the right has the destination set to Program files > Adobe\Adobe Fireowks CS3\Fireworksexe. Still it does not recognize when I try to edit. |

Is there a version of Fireworks still installed? And you can launch it from the start->Programs-> menu? Go to dw preferences under the Edit menu. click the tab for File Types and Editors. there is a line at the upper part for Fireworks. use the browse button to the right of that line to find and select the fireworks app. -- Alan Adobe Community Expert, dreamweaver http://www.adobe.com/communities/experts/ |

I did all that and it still points there when I try to edit.
I have completely unistalled the previous Fireworks. Thats why it says "unable to launch C;\Program Files\Macromedia\Fireworks 2004\Fireworks.exe Please be sure that this applications exists and that there is enough memory to run it." |

> I have completely unistalled the previous Fireworks. IS there a version of Fireworks installed NOW on that machine? OR do you want to edit the JPEG file in some other application? After two replies, i'm guessing that the computer is trying to open an application that has been uninstalled? ?? please clarify and state the question?? -- Alan Adobe Community Expert, dreamweaver http://www.adobe.com/communities/experts/ |

> Yes. The computer is trying to open an application that has been uninstalled. One: Go to dw preferences under the Edit menu. click the tab for File Types and Editors. there is a line at the upper part for Fireworks. ERASE the path on that line for Fireworks... Two: What application DO you want to open jpeg files in? Use the buttons down below for jpeg and gif and png to pick what app you want to be the er app for those files. -- Alan Adobe Community Expert, dreamweaver http://www.adobe.com/communities/experts/ |

One: I did that. I have erased, and reset to the exe FW file under Program Files > Adobe. Same result.
Two: Jpegs, PNG, gif. I have done that too. Same result. Still looking for Macromedia. |

CLARIFY please. You say you have uninstalled fireworks. WHAT fireworks .exe are you trying to point that pref path to? does it exist? or is it an ex-application? You are trying to tell the program to open the jpeg files in a program that is not installed on your computer? elucidate. -- Alan Adobe Community Expert, dreamweaver http://www.adobe.com/communities/experts/ |

I HAD Macrodmedia Fireworks and Dreamweaver. I unistalled them both.
I installed CS3 Web Premium. So, I installed cs3DW and cs3FW. In Types and Editors, I set the path to Fireworks (Program Files > Adobe > Fireworks > exe). It states so in that field next to the browse button. CS3 FW works fine. So does CS3 DW. Except for the functionality of what is being discussed. The only thing I can think to do is completely re-install CS3. If I do so, how can I keep all the info for the sites I have started in DW? |
