We have a small simple web site that has been at the same URL since 1996 when
it was created. All of a sudden, instead of the site loading when the url www.alaska.net/~achp is used, we get a dialog box asking if we want to save a file. The internet provider says the problem is with our index.html or a corrupt file, but I can't find anything wrong. If I use the address www.alaska.net/~achp/index.html it loads fine, with all the graphics. I am new to Dreamweaver and would like some ideas about what could be wrong and/or how to fix it. linda |

The host is what's wrong. Change it.

>Thank you but as a newbie I guess I just don't know how to do that... can you
direct me? I think what Murray is suggesting is to change providers. There appears to be nothing wrong with your file and the problem is probably due to a mis-configured server. It looks like it is not handling the html extension although it's fine with your .htm pages. You could try renaming the index.html to index.htm but frankly if the host can't figure out your problem they don't deserve your business. And of course renaming your home page is something you should always try to avoid. |
