Ok i am just not getting nested templates.
I make a banner and an empty sidebar (background only) and save it as a master template (making the main content and sidebar editable regions). Then I create a new a nested template from this master and add a spry menu to the side bar. I want to make this a nested template for a section of my site that will use that spry menu....so i save this as a template as well. I start a new page based on that nested template. But the spry menu (that i made in the nested template) won't inherit any changes because it is still an editible region from the master template? What am I missing? I want to make happy nested templates for the three sections of my site that will have different spry menus. And I want them to all be nested templates of my master template that has the banner and sidebar background. What am i doing wrong? Nate |

I think the problem lies in the fact that the tags i'm wanting to inherit across to the third-order page are editable regions from the master template. I tried forcing those regions into being uneditable using the @@("")@@ code (i did get the orange border indicating that it is locked down) but it still doesn't inherit the changes made in the nested template. Hoping to hear some ideas Nate |

Yay. I moved the @@("")@@ to a different spot (though i'm sure that didn't matter) and then forced the nested template to update using modify > update pages. I had to assign some unidentified editable tags to "nowhere" and then it did eventually force the updates. After that first time it updates naturally upon save. Yay for forums lol |

Don't use nested templates. It's simple. Really.
They do not simplify your life, and they do not solve any problems that couldn't be solved more simply and easily in other ways. -- Murray --- ICQ 71997575 Adobe Community Expert (If you *MUST* email me, don't LAUGH when you do so!) ================== http://www.projectseven.com/go - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.dwfaq.com - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources ================== "NateSamner" <webforumsuser@macromedia.com> wrote in message news:g1t4i3$6o8$1@forums.macromedia.com... > Ok i am just not getting nested templates. > > I make a banner and an empty sidebar (background only) and save it as a > master > template (making the main content and sidebar editable regions). > > Then I create a new a nested template from this master and add a spry menu > to > the side bar.
