Hello. I am using flash buttons for email links in my web site rather than html
email links to with spamming. They work great except for one thing. In my site I have a fixed Div on the left of my pages. The content scrolls sideways underneath the fixed div. However....the flash buttons scroll over the TOP of the fixed div while the rest of the content goes under as it is supposed to. I have the fixed div set at z-index of 2. This isn't an issue in Firefox, only IE7, so far. Any one know of an easy fix for this rather than creating a new div for each of the buttons? Here is the link to the problem page - its the email link in red towards the end of the page. Watch the link go OVER the drums as you scroll. (it should go under) http://dev.informarch.com/wm/article...llexample.html Thanks in advance for any . Ken |

No promises, but try adding a WMODE parameter to the button
1.. Add the following parameter to the OBJECT tag: <param name="wmode" value="transparent">2.. Add the following parameter to the EMBED tag: wmode="transparent "Nevermynd" <webforumsuser@macromedia.com> wrote in message news:g1sl77$m47$1@forums.macromedia.com... > Hello. I've got a 22 inch display on high res (1600 px) and I still can't see that
page without considerable scrolling. Red Email link doesn't appear to overlap the drums on my side - IE6, Safari and FF2 with screen at max. Problems begin to occur when the viewport is reduced to an average width. Which begs the bigger question, why on Earth is your page so freaking wide? --Nancy O. Same reason your web site (www.alt-web.com) is so freaking tall!
![]() Seriously though, the common style for most web pages is to scroll vertically (just like your site) when all the content won't fit on the monitor. This site is still in development but we wanted to do a horizontal scroll, rather than vertical, 1) to be a bit different and 2) to somewhat simulate a magazine by having a horizontal layout. As mentioned, the flash email link is only an issue in IE7. IE6 doesn't even begin to demonstrate what I am refering too as it treats fixed divs as absolute. Thanks for your input and hopefully this won't detract too much from the orginal question. |

and 3) to annoy your visitors. Horizontal scrolling is the pits. Always.

Nobody likes websites that scroll horizontally so I'd say that is an issue that must be fixed first. hehe

Other than opinion, why is it that horizontal is so taboo? I have had plenty of
comments of people saying they like the horizontal scrolling and thats its a refresing change. I've seen a few showcased in CSS Zen Garden. Anyway....I may need to start a new thread....looks like this one if foucsed on the scrolling now. I know about the flash plugin pitfalls as well......every decision has benefits and drawbacks. |
