Par défaut xorg reconfigure problem after upgrade

I just dist-upgrade (testing), and found that
"dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg" doesn't
prompt for driver, monitor configuration as
before, but only keyboard and mouse configure.

Is it new policy of xserver-xorg package?
Or my system has problem after this dist-upgrade?

Any hint is appreciated.

http://wiki.debian.org/XStrikeForce/HowToRandR12
http://intellinuxgraphics.org/dualhead.html

those options you asked about are not automaticaly detected, MOSTLY right.
When it is wrong, you need the first link to fix it.

eh-hemmm! I meant "are now automaticaly detected" not "are not automaticaly
detected". Sorry if this caused confusion.

Yes, most of the time, not all of the time. For when it does not, you need
that info I posted.

I agree. I am also forwarding this to the list, for discussion.

This is why I refuse to enable fb, DRI & [xgk]dm. The nvidia kernel
module isn't loaded until you run startx.

So, no matter how hosed X gets, the machine is functional and you
can log into the console, reading email with Mutt and surf the web
with links2.

This is why I am distressed about kernel modeline settings.
