I have heard that some people have installed Debian on the One Laptop
Per Child machine Do you have any info or links to this? I have one of these from the GIGO program. It's full of kiddie toys which I would like to replace with something more useful to me. The X-Window opens but never reaches the login, just shows a small
circle with rotating dots. As root I ran top -i and intermittently it showed root running gdmgreeter but each time it was shown with a different pid and I couldn't kill it. Xorg was also running. Background: I have been using gdm and icewm for years with no problems. Yesterday in an attempt to get iscan installed I installed first gnome and the Xorg as some elements of these were apparently required for iscan. There were no apparent problems until I shut down the system overnight. When I booted up this morning the X-Window was locked in a loop as described above. In an attempt to correct the problem I ran dpkg --purge gnome and dpkg --purge Xorg and rebooted. Same problem. How can I kill and remove this rogue program? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-REQUEST@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact listmaster@lists.debian.org |

Hi, Do not highjack other people thread. You have to start making a new message, not replying and changing the suject. Well, you must be new here, so welcome anyway, and start with new mail. Sorry, I thought if I changed the subject it would start a new thread.
Now I know better. Tom -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-REQUEST@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact listmaster@lists.debian.org |

In mailers that ignore Reference or In-Reply-To headers, it will appear as a new thread. Most email packages don't ignore those headers, though.
