I don't know if this is common to all the 945gc boards or not, but etch worked
for me with the exception of the built-in ethernet.

If you get bitten by the same bug, your options are to either a) install a pci
network card or b) install a newer kernel than 2.6.18. I opted for a kernel
from testing and everything works great.
