I set up etch on a new pc and gkrellm can't find any CPU or mobo monitors for
temperature monitoring. My other older system uses mbmon and hdmon. Is this out of date now? When I start mbmon on the new box it complains: Starting motherboard sensor monitoring daemon: No Hardware Monitor found!! I've got sysfs sensors on the machine although it's not a daemon and it's not running on my old machine, so I'm wondering if there's something wrong with that. Any advice? thanks Adam -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-REQUEST@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact listmaster@lists.debian.org |

Thanks, Hugo. Guess I used the wrong search terms - I think my synapses had started cutting out last night. I have done that now and the CPU temp is available. However mbmon is still complaining about the same thing as above. I'm tempted to ignore it although it seems strange. If mbmon does not work, disable it in the gkrellm configuration dialog. The lm-sensors settings can be adjusted in /etc/sensors.conf (if needed). On my box, with Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe AM2 (Athlon64) running amd64, mbmon shows three temps but doesn't get all the volts. I also don't know as the temps are accurate; would the CPU really be 252. There are only 2 fans in the box that report speed: the CPU fan and the case's cross-flow squirrel cage, so I know that the CPU fan is running. Temp.= 26.0, 252.0, 30.0; Rot.= 3571, 4470, 0 Vcore = 1.26, 3.18; Volt. = 0.00, 4.73, 11.19, -0.00, -0.00 I tried to use lmsensors but last time I tried, it said there were no sensors. Actually I don't know whether to trust the output of sensors either. The values for temperatures are all reasonable, but the word ALARM appears worryingly on several lines: isengard:~# sensors w83627ehf-isa-0290 Adapter: ISA adapter VCore: +1.13 V (min = +0.00 V, max = +1.74 V) in1: +12.14 V (min = +13.36 V, max = +13.46 V) ALARM AVCC: +3.33 V (min = +2.29 V, max = +4.08 V) 3VCC: +3.33 V (min = +4.08 V, max = +3.02 V) ALARM in4: +1.69 V (min = +0.50 V, max = +2.04 V) in5: +1.57 V (min = +2.02 V, max = +1.53 V) ALARM in6: +5.04 V (min = +6.53 V, max = +4.89 V) ALARM VSB: +3.33 V (min = +4.08 V, max = +3.06 V) ALARM VBAT: +0.00 V (min = +4.08 V, max = +4.05 V) ALARM in9: +1.62 V (min = +1.98 V, max = +2.04 V) ALARM Case Fan: 0 RPM (min = 0 RPM, div = 128) CPU Fan: 1250 RPM (min = 685 RPM, div = 8) Aux Fan: 0 RPM (min = 0 RPM, div = 128) fan4: 0 RPM (min = 10546 RPM, div = 128) ALARM Sys Temp: +43°C (high = -5°C, hyst = -45°C) ALARM CPU Temp: +49.0°C (high = +80.0°C, hyst = +75.0°C) AUX Temp: +45.5°C (high = +80.0°C, hyst = +75.0°C) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-REQUEST@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Nothing is 252 and there are 4 temp and 4 fans (I forgot two) that report speed. Also, all the voltages are fine with nothing as "0.00". > > > >I tried to use lmsensors but last time I tried, it said there were no > >sensors. > > is that what sensors-detect says?
