Anyone else seeing absurdly slow responsiveness from iceweasel, like 30
seconds to close a tab? Or am I just using too many plugins? Current Testing version. -- Carl Fink nitpicking@nitpicking.com Read my blog at nitpickingblog.blogspot.com. Reviews! Observations! Iceweasel is really boring me. And many plugins that work on firefox,
don't work on it, and it crashs frequentally. I tried diferent versions, but I'm just tired too... gonna look for another option. I'm running Sid's 2.0.0.0.3, and before that v1.5.0.10-dfsg3 and tabs close just about instantaneously while using 6 plugins, even when I've got dozens of tabs open. Yes, it happens to me also -- unfortunately, because I have gotten used to having several tabs open, and I keep opening and closing tabs all the time. Sometimes even switching tabs takes too long. :-( > Or am I just using too many plugins? Hmm, I have eight plugins... > Current Testing version. Unstable here. I have about ~20 or so plug-ins installed, all running simultaneously without problems of any sort. Speed is good, and there's no latency in terms of closing down tabs, even when I have like ~30 active tabs with mixed content (some of these with rather heavy pages). When I close a tab, the tab just closes and the next tab is given focus with great ease. What sort of plug-ins are you using? Are you for instance running a lot of similar plug-ins, especially those that deal with tab preferences, you might have conflicting plug-ins installed. -- Yours sincerely Jostein Elvaker Haande "A free society is a place where it is safe to be unpopular" - Adlai Stevenson Web: http://tolecnal.net - Mail: tolecnal <a> tolecnal <dot> net -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-REQUEST@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". I'm getting annoyed too by iceweasel crashing often... It isn't just tab closings that are the problem. Loading a page freezes the program (all tabs) for up to one minute(!) until the load and rendering are complete. Actually, I just uninstalled three plugins and everything seems to be dramatically faster. I may have been right in my initial guess. As for alternative browsers, I rather like Galeon and Konqueror, but I'd miss the plugins.
