Hi all,
I've got a strange issue with cron. I try to run a simple script that calls tar to backup my wiki. I can run the script using sudo, it runs fine from an entry in cron.d but refuses to run after being dropped into cron.daily. It's owned by root:root and chmodded 755 just like the other entries in cron.daily. Anyone got some insight on what might be causing this strange behavior? Thanks, Peter -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-REQUEST@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact listmaster@lists.debian.org |

If you are refereing to the "USP drive" email that Greg mentioned, then your mail is getting through. The problem is that you are hijacking threads. That means you are responding to an existing thread with a non-relevant question. This is severely frowned on as it breaks up the continuity of the existing thread but also causes your post to get lost to others who are not watching the thread you hijacked. This "USP drive" email is a great example. It was buried deep in another thread. I actually saw that subject header, but was not participating in that particular thread and just marked the whole thread as read and never looked at your mail. To get a response around here, you should start your own thread by sending a new email to debian-user@lists.debian.org. Use a meaningful subject and please ask intelligent questions (http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html). I must have been blind - or getting used to this new mailer. Andrew: I fully understand your concerns, and I'm well aware of the protocol and the reasons for it. I've recently switched from mutt to kmail and the change probably contributed to the error. Please accept my apologies. And thanks for being so cordial in addressing my mistakes and explaining so well. regards tim -- Tim Johnson <tim@johnsons-web.com> Palmer, Alaska, USA -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-REQUEST@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
