I just bought a dell dimension e520, and after some struggle, I
finally installed it.
But still got a problem, X11 is not coming up.
I'm a little tired of searching and solving installation problems, and
that's why I'm looking for without many search about this one.
Copied the log here:

Have you already tried `vesa'?

I'm on the same situation.

vesa driver works in e520 configuration but this is not the solution because
of its low performance (I'm using it now)

After lot of Googling, I tried to modprobe intel agp modules and I tried to
create by hand /dev/agpgp - all unsuccessfully. No way by now.

I have stopped the investigation but I'm very interested in this issue.

You'll need the intel-agp driver from 2.6.19 at least. Once it is updated,
it'll recognize your device. I managed to work around the problem by d/l the
source package for the etch kernel, dropping the intel-agp.c file from a
newer vanilla kernel into it, and building the kernel the "debian way" (or
just d/l the latest vanilla kernel and go at it.)

The VESA driver will work (poorly, but much better than nothing.) For the i810
driver to work, you might need to use the sources from freedesktop.org:
http://intellinuxgraphics.org./download.html

Hopefully you will avoid the problem I'm currently experiencing with the 2d
driver sources: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10430
In this case, it's probably just a pebkac error.

Regards,

Anson

Thanks very everyone for the .
But, as I said, I am a bit tired of installation. got many problems
with sata controler and later with the network driver.
I'll use vesa driver until kernel 2.6.19 comes to etch.
For now, I'll focus now on making the sound works. arrr...

Hmm... Just be sure of getting audio permissions to your user . I've
seen that a lot.
