Doing a ctrl-s to save a page and then middle clicking to change the
filename doesn't work. If I highlight text then ctrl-c, I can ctrl-v in the dialog fine. Both methods worked fine in sarge. I've tried starting in safe-mode and the problem is still there and the config value middlemouse.paste is set to true. Anyone else seeing this problem? -- swk -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-REQUEST@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact listmaster@lists.debian.org |

Basically it boils down to firefox/iceweasel doesn't follow the linux standards because it is designed as a windows program. One poster pointed out that if the GNU/Linux version can place the configuration options in a different place, it can adhere to standard in interface, yet it doesn't. It seems we need to mass complain to the mozilla project. I would miss my plugins (pointlessly renamed "Add-ons" in 2.0), though. Is there any move to make FireFox plugins work in either? -- Carl Fink nitpicking@nitpicking.com Read my blog at nitpickingblog.blogspot.com. Reviews! Observations! It seems strange that they stress cross compatibility on their site. Mozilla I mean. There are even articles on how one creates code that can compile on multiple systems. I find myself using konqueror more and more. I just wish the were compatible so that when I hit a web site with one browser, the other one knows about it because the is there. Alas, each browser has it's own place where it stores . I suppose if I _really_ wanted to I could download the source code and hardcode my place for the into the browsers and recompile, but that would be a pain because each time one of the programs updates, it would either wipe out my changes, or I have to put the package on hold, which means no more security updates. I suppose I'll just have to live with it, or stop using more than one browser. The problem with that is, some pages don't look right on one browser or the other. Sometimes you get completely different pages because the webmaster caters to a specific browser. Maybe I should just set Konqueror to tell every site that it's Mozilla. At least Konqueror is smart enough to read my Mozilla favorites and plugins. In Konqueror, you go to Settings -> Configure Konqueror then click on Plugins. The window will open so that you can tell it where to search for them. Just click on the 'Scan for Plugins' button as the defaults will look in the right directories.
