And you just did it again, responding without quoting what you're responding to. I suspect you're using a crippled email client - mine doesn't flash an empty subject line at me, and it invites me to quote what I'm responding to. (And, for debian-user, I'm on gmail, which is by no means the most sophisticated of email clients. It invites me to top-post, an invitation I ignore here; it makes editing the Subject line difficult; it makes quoting routine.) As I said before, I'm just trying to you be MORE ful. Sorry if you took it wrong. Patrick |

He changed the subject (corrected then to than). I really hate when people use the word then when they should be using the word than. It's a far too common mistake. At least Patrick knows the difference. Joe PS. This follows the tread. It seems that gmail does not include "In-Reply-To" references in the header; at least they were absent in Patrick's message. This means that a change in the subject line will break threading. It should not matter if you change the subject as long as your MUA puts the proper references in the header. -- Regards, Florian -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-REQUEST@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". I also use gmail for lists, and you can avoid problem using 'Reply all' and erasing user's mail address leaving only the list. have a try cheers raffaele |

However, gmail does offer POP3 access you one's account, so he could always set up mutt or icedove or any other MUA that can handle POP accounts, then he can reply to the list properly. In order to get icedove to handle it properly, one needs to install the Reply-To-List extension. I access the list with Sylpheed and a Gmail account; seems to work fine. Note tha Gmail offers both POP3 and SMTP.
