Does anyone know of any reputable agencies where you can rent a shell
that uses SSH tuneled over HTTP/SSL?

Are you looking for an ISP that sells shell account access with an ssh
server listening on tcp/443?

Yes, it would be listening on tcp/443, but the traffic would also have
to tunnel, or be encapsulated in HTTP(S) packets.

Yeah, the problem is I am currently, let's just say, in an 'under
developed' region of the world, and I can't seem to get anybody at my
site back home to configure it properly, so I was hoping to find an
organization that rented what I require.

Those are awfully specific requirements. I think you'd probably have
to setup and maintain your own virtual private server (VPS) to achieve
that.

They can be had for about $60/month though, which ain't bad.

Virtual private servers are rented thingees, hosted on hardware in a
data center far far away. Example:

You might want to check with the United States Marine Core base
commander first. He may take a dim view of your connection.

While my intentions are legitimate, I concede that it would not be

What makes you think it's on a military base? (Just curious. I didn't
see anything in the OP that indicated that.)

192.156.56.34. When I first looked at it I must have been seeing
crosseyed. I thought it was an untraceable 192.168.x.x private IP.

192.156.56.23 is owned by usmc.mil and located in Wichita KS. Something
tells me that's another endpoint though. ;-)

I guess when you work for the folks that invented the internet, you just
might get a 192/8 address. I wonder if Al Gore applied for one?
