Par défaut http upload freeze for big files

Hi,

I have a question about http 1.1 fileuploads. Hopefully you can
clearify something for me.

I want to upload large (>1G) files with my browser. The reason is has
to be http and not for example ftp is that it has to work on the
highest of security levels.

I have made a form for selecting files. PHP handles the server side.
Everything works like a charm.

But when I upload larger files the upload randomly freezes. I have
found many sites with google that show that same problem but none have
a good explanation why this happens. Is this protocol behaviour? Or is
this due to the browser?

And the most important question of them all: is there a solution?

The site has been set for files up til 2GB. Both PHP and apache.

Kind regards,
Flak.

Larger than what? Have you noticed a particular size where it always
freezes?

When I used to do tech support for a network firewall, we ran into some
situations where the firewall was the culprit.

You need to do some detailed troubleshooting, such as packet captures,
to figure out where the problem is before it will be possible to come up
with a solution.
