Are there are plans to expose the SubjectAltName extension in the
sendmail support for TLS? |

The reason I asked this question is because my sendmail deployment needs to interoperate with a (well-known) company who are in the process of modifying their TLS implementation to use this extension field. On searching the internet, I came across this article which recommends the use of SubjectAltName with TLS: http://www.es.net/pub/esnet-doc/SubjectAltName.doc which says "X.509 certificates bind a public key to the contents of the Subject field, the SubjectAltName extension, or both. The SubjectAltName extension has become the preferred location for Email addresses (S/ MIME), and is recommended for use in the host identification phase of TLS. SubjectAltName supports a variety of data types" |
