Is IMAP theoretically capable of message tags/labels, like gmail.com
provides? If so, does anyone know if UW's IMAP server can handle this and/or any other server? What about MUAs? Thanks, Jaime |

What about MUAs? Most well-known IMAP servers implement the required protocol extension. Support on the client side varies. Mozilla Thunderbird has several predefined tags (Work, Important, etc…) that it offers as message labels. Cone uses same tags as Thunderbird. I do not know about other clients. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.5 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQBFOtutx9p3GYHlUOIRAoR+AJ9ROvn/gh7C8dp2StF3+AEpk7rh/ACfcCey JeKznGWdCWzCO42dDZMldL0= =55qQ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

I've written a lot about IMAP keywords, aka user-defined flags, in my blog and on my Infinite Ink page. A good place to start is here: Server-Side Message Labels <http://deflexion.com/2006/05/server-side-message-labels> This includes links to lots more information about IMAP keywords. >> If so, does anyone know if UW's IMAP server can >> handle this and/or any other server? Pine, Mulberry, Opera, and Polymer all support IMAP keywords. I've written about how I use Pine and keywords here: Setting Up Keywords (Labels) <http://www.ii.com/internet/messaging/pine/pc/#keywords> And how I use Mulberry and keywords here: One-Click Tagging in Mulberry <http://deflexion.com/2006/09/one-click-tagging-in-mulberry> Hope this s, welcome to the world of IMAP keywords!
