hello I have a small office and I would like to build a email server using imap. The OS that I'll be using is Suse. But when I read about it it says that it is not straight forward neither the webmail. Is there any package that doesn't have some many security that doesn't use imaps?? Thanks |

Most webmails don't maintain state, and need to be paired with cyrus, which responds quickly to connections, or connect thru an imap proxy which does maintain state. The only proxy I know of is imapproxy, and it's not well maintained, leaving cyrus as the only good option for a non stateful webmail. It's possible to use uw-imap with a stateful webmail like prayer, but prayer has minimial features. I don't know any other good choices for a stateful webmail. Unfortunately, it's "not straight forward." |

UW imapd using mix format should also work OK with non stateful webmail systems. However, in general it is better to use stateful webmails. > It's possible to use uw-imap with a stateful webmail like prayer, but > prayer has minimial features. The web version of Alpine (formerly known as WebPine) is stateful and is currently targeted for release on October 1: http://www.washington.edu/alpine -- Mark -- http://panda.com/mrc Democracy is two wolves and a sheep deciding what to eat for lunch.
