Please note, this is a general recommendation, not directed at anyone
in particular. I propose we branch this "newsgroup". Perhaps comp.lang.php.rant, so the items not directly related to php could be taken off to a separate location. All I see in many of these discussions these days is a simple question followed by pages and pages of arguing about things entirely unrelated to php, and most importantly entirely unrelated to the original question in the thread. Maybe it should be: comp.lang.php.im.going.to.tell.everyone.how.stupid .you.are Believe it or not, most of us aren't really interested in anything but reading about php problems people are encountering, and reading the proposed solutions. And every once in a while try to them out. Not a bad concept I think. Thoughts? |

A best practice is to troll the message out - although I avoid that one. What you do is reply to the troll, but put something like "alt.spam.me" in the reply-to or follow-up-to (i forget which). Then, when they reply - it's a double whammy. 1. The thread trails off into lala land. 2. The spam-cops can collect the header data and identify sources of abuse. But your best, best practice would be the one we use with our TV's. If you don't like what you see - stop looking at it. |

Hi Cameron, I believe we should branch this group into several others - maybe one for , one for discussing PHP projects (such as phpBB), and one for discussing the interpreter and its configuration files. |
