In the C++ FAQ lite there is a whole section about serialization:

Since FAQ 3.2 (
http://www.parashift.com/c++-faq-lit...k.html#faq-3.2 ) sounds
really interresting, I bought the book and am reading it right now - but I
am completely missing anything about serialization ?!? Am I half blind or
doesn't the book cover MORE topics then the lite version as the FAQ claims ?

Most probably I have just overlooked something - perhaps you could point
me to the right page ?

I own that book, it's copyright 1999. The online FAQs have probably
been updated, as well as renumbered since then. I'd consider the online
FAQ to be more authoritative.
