Authentication and Directories

Hi there,

Just having a few issues with authentication on my server.
I am trying to apply basic authentication to a directory, but not all
of the sub-directories.
How can i apply authentication to only the initial directory?
ie) /research - authentication

Anyone got any tips?

Never considered it before, but that doesn't seem to make sense. Is there
any alternative configuration that would work for you?
